They are also offering big discounts to customers buying the second, fourth or sixth items of the same product, gifting over 200,000 vouchers and offering members higher bonus points than normal.
Đỗ Quốc Huy, Saigon Co-op’s marketing director, said besides its regular activities to promote consumption of Vietnamese products, the "Proud of Vietnamese goods" programme is Saigon Co.op’s largest annual promotion programme to boost the consumption of domestically produced goods, with spending on the programme increasing every year.
The programme is in its 21st year.
Many other supermarkets and electronics shops in HCM City like Big C, Nguyễn Kim, Thiên Hòa, and Chợ Lớn are offering attractive discounts on essential goods as well as TVs, cameras, mobile phones, and household appliances.
According to the city Department of Industry and Trade, the 2018 Promotion Fair will held at the Phú Thọ Indoor Stadium in District 11 from August 29 to September 3, kicking off the city’s annual sales promotion month.
It will feature 500-600 booths showcasing and selling essential goods, consumer goods, food and foodstuffs, garment and textiles, handicrafts, cosmetics, electronics, and other products.
To be held on National Day, the fair would offer good shopping options for locals as well as tourists, the department said. — VNS
