HCM CITY — Sweden’s Wayne’s Coffee opened its first cafe in Việt Nam on Wednesday with the aim of establishing the coffee chain all over the country.

By applying the company’s Swedish and international standards, Wayne’s Coffee Việt Nam will serve certified organic coffee that is approved by “KRAV (Sweden and Europe)” through rigorously testing, as well as Vietnamese coffee.

The store is situated at 285, Cách Mạng Tháng Tám Street, HCM City. Wayne’s Coffee currently has over 140 branches in Sweden, England, Germany, Holland and the Middle East, including in Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Oman.

Pereric Högberg, ambassador of Sweden to Việt Nam along with many entrepreneurs, attended the event.

The  project in Việt Nam was co-developed by Arya Consumer JSC and Việt Nam-Oman Investment Fund (VOI), with an aim of enabling the company to get a foothold in Asia.

VOI is a joint venture between the State General Reserve Fund of Oman (SGRF) and the State Capital Investment Corporation of Việt Nam (SCIC). VOI pursues a philosophy of investing in value and long-term growth. VOI has invested over US$200 million over 10 years, becoming a leading Middle Eastern investor in the country.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Đinh Nguyên Dũng, CEO of Arya Consumer Việt Nam said that the project aimed to open 15 to 20 stores in the country over the next two years.

“We will start franchising to partners in 2019, mostly in the big cities,” Dũng added.

He further added that Vietnamese coffee has good quality, and they aim to attain organic certification for local coffee in the future. — VNS
