HÀ NỘI - Team MTA Racer from the Military Technical Academy overcame seven teams to win first prize at FPT’s Digital Race contest, held at Cầu Giấy Stadium on Wednesday.

This is the first self-driving technology contest in Việt Nam and will be held annually. The board of organisation equips participating teams with car models, training material on image processing technology and open source libraries.

The second prize was awarded to CDIO of HCM City University of Technology. The third and fourth prizes went to Alpha One of FPT University and LHU Racer 304 of Lạc Hồng University.

According to observations, cars of the high-scoring teams travel at a fast speed -- at some 10km per hour -- and are able to adjust their speed at corners or while avoiding obstacles on the road.

During the contest, FPT president Trương Gia Bình told students he believed that with the experience and knowledge they acquired, as well as their passion and determination, they would be pioneers in the global technology value chain, contributing to Việt Nam’s development during the fourth industrial revolution and leading the country towards a prosperous future. "

Competitions like Digital Race would contribute to the promotion and training of quality human resources of Việt Nam to perceive, create and possess benefits brought by the fourth industrial revolution, said Phạm Đại Dương, deputy minister of science and technology. - VNS
