HẢI PHÒNG — The Hải Phòng Economic Zone Authority organised a conference to connect foreign direct investment (FDI) enterprises within industrial parks and economic zones in Hải Phòng City with domestic supporting enterprises on Thursday.
At the conference, Lê Trung Kiên, vice chairman of the municipal People's Committee and head of the Hải Phòng Economic Zone Authority, emphasised that the private sector had made significant contributions to the city's and country's development.
However, the growth of businesses in the city has not yet matched its potential, especially considering its status as a long-established industrial and seaport city, he noted.
The conference served as an opportunity for FDI businesses to open more doors for Vietnamese supporting industries, particularly those in Hải Phòng, to access and partner with each other, he said.
Kiên urged FDI enterprises and domestic suppliers to collaborate closely for tangible results.
He said that the city's leadership will support businesses and create favourable conditions for their growth.
Hải Phòng has been granted several favourable policies, including Resolution 226/2025/QH15, which introduces special mechanisms for the city's development, offering incentives for foreign investors.
Representatives of FDI enterprises at the conference confirmed their preference for using products from Vietnamese supporting industries, but noted that domestic suppliers must meet criteria for quality and cost.
According to the municipal People's Committee, the city currently has 43 industrial parks and over 1,700 FDI enterprises operating.
Hải Phòng is also home to 45,155 active companies that contribute over 40 per cent to GRDP, more than 50 per cent to domestic tax revenue and create jobs for around 50 per cent of the workforce.
