HÀ NỘI — Ericsson and MobiFone on Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to collaborate on establishing a 5G Innovation Hub at MobiFone’s premises in Việt Nam.

The 5G innovation hub will feature innovative 5G use cases that demonstrate the potential of 5G for consumers and enterprises based on advanced, state-of-the-art equipment and interactive displays.

It will be designed to serve as a 5G co-creation space featuring a modern 5G sandbox network, and will be used to develop new 5G use cases in collaboration with partners in Việt Nam and other parts of the globe. Both companies will promote the 5G innovation hub as a dynamic innovation environment for consumers and enterprises. The innovation hub will also support R&D projects.

Tô Mạnh Cường, MobiFone CEO said: “The 5G innovation hub will enable industries and businesses to realise the transformative potential of 5G, its relevance to their strategic long-term planning and as an enabler for their digital transformation initiatives. MobiFone would like the industry in Việt Nam to realise the full benefits of Industry 4.0 with 5G.”

Ericsson will share with MobiFone its global experience with 5G commercial applications and support MobiFone in establishing and maintaining the innovation hub operations, design consultancy and service experience solutions.

Rita Mokbel, Head of Ericsson Vietnam, said: “By working together with MobiFone and other ecosystem players in Việt Nam, we will foster innovation that will support the country’s digital transformation initiatives and benefit enterprises in Việt Nam. We will assist MobiFone in connecting with other overseas research centres and institutes, as well as Ericsson partners, to make the innovation hub truly experiential.” Ericsson Vietnam is committed to fostering partnerships to ensure that Việt Nam reaps the full benefits of a robust and sustainable 5G network.

The latest report from business consulting firm Frost & Sullivan reaffirms Ericsson’s leadership in the 5G network infrastructure market, which spans radio access networks (RAN), transport networks and core networks. Ericsson has been ranked as the leader in the Frost Radar 5G Network Infrastructure Market 2024 analysis for the fourth consecutive year, highlighting the impact of the company’s strategy to meet the evolving needs of communications service providers. — VNS
