HÀ NỘI — Vietjet on Wednesday launched a direct route connecting the pearl island Phú Quốc with Bangkok, continuing to offer more opportunities for economical and flexible travel for passengers, promoting tourism recovery once travel barriers have been removed.

The Phú Quốc-Bangkok route operates four return flights per week every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, with a flight time of only about 1 hour and 15 minutes.

Welcoming the opening of the new route, Vietjet is offering attractive fares from only VNĐ299,000 (excluding taxes and fees) for this route when booking from October 12 to October 23, 2022.

Woranate Laprabang, Chief Executive Officer of Vietjet Thailand, said the route provides passengers and tourists from both countries with more choices for convenient and economical travel, and helps international visitors travel to Phú Quốc easier than ever through the gateway of Bangkok.

He added Vietjet's new international routes will continue to serve the growing travel demand in the region and promote the recovery of trade, international tourism and the aviation industry.

This inaugural flight also carried a group of ambassadors in Thailand, led by Vietnamese Ambassador Phan Chí Thành, together with major Thai business groups, to visit and work with Kiên Giang's local government for potential investment and cooperation opportunities.

Vietjet also teamed up with Vinpearl, a leading brand pioneering in Phú Quốc tourism development in Việt Nam to organise a programme for a group of travel companies, agencies and Thailand bloggers specialising in writing about tourism, visiting, experiencing and promoting Phú Quốc during this trip.

Vietjet is currently the leading operator between Việt Nam and Thailand, with routes between Bangkok and Hà Nội/HCM City/Đà Nằng and the only direct route between HCM City and Phuket/Chiang Mai.

Việt Nam and Thailand have both restored entry conditions to their pre-pandemic levels, welcoming tourists to discover their favourite destinations. Thailand also allows international passengers from many countries, including Việt Nam to stay up to 45 days, and does not require a certificate of COVID vaccination. — VNS
