To enjoy culinary experiences with Michelin stars without leaving hotel premises, CNN recently listed 20 of the world’s best hotels with Michelin-star restaurants.
Among them, CNN especially recommends Hibana by Koki restaurant of Capella Hanoi Hotel, Hanoi, Vietnam - the newest destination in a total of more than 40 countries around the world with the presence of the Michelin Guide. This restaurant has just achieved 1 Michelin star with typical Japanese Teppanyaki cuisine.
CNN’s praise for the hotels with Michelin-star restaurants is reasonable, because in the world, according to experts, very few restaurants at hotels can achieve a Michelin star. And Hibana by Koki of Capella Hanoi has done this, after only two years of operation. This is truly a miracle.
Hibana by Koki is located in the basement of the high-class boutique hotel Capella Hanoi - the most luxurious project in the hotel and resort collection of Sun Hospitality Group, the hotel brand of Sun Group. Well-known as a trendy destination for culinary connoisseurs in Hanoi, this is the first high-class restaurant in the capital to bring the Japanese culinary art of Teppanyaki to diners, led by head chef Yamaguchi and head chef advisor Yoshida Junichi, the world’s first one-Michelin-star chef of the Teppanyaki art.
Teppanyaki at Hibana by Koki is like a journey of the senses through the exquisite flavors of Japan, meticulously prepared and served in a 14-seat private room with a traditional sake bar.
But the attraction of Teppanyaki not only comes from the strange and delicious taste of Japanese beef or seafood prepared only for Hibana by Koki. The “expensiveness” of a meal at this restaurant is the experience of watching master culinary “artisans” prepare and process ingredients, with meticulousness, passion, and above all, irresistible exquisiteness.
Hiroshi Yamaguchi |
“Head chef Hiroshi Yamaguchi is a visionary master of teppanyaki, the technique involving cooking on a teppan (metal griddle). As always in Japanese cuisine, the ingredients are all. His meticulously sourced vegetables, seafood, meats, and more are among the finest that money can buy. That translates for diners into courses including perfectly prepared Hokkaido crab, spiny lobster, and Yaeyama Kyori beef,” assessed CNN.
The website also suggested that diners should experience the unique and unusual architectural space of the hotel, designed by the world’s “witch” architect Bill Bensley. Coming to Capella Hanoi is coming to the magical space of a luxurious inn in the golden age of Opera musicals. Each room here has a sophisticated design, highlighted by hand-crafted sculptures.
In the first publication of the Michelin Guide in Hanoi in June, in addition to Hibana by Koki restaurant achieving one Michelin star, Capella Hanoi Hotel also had two Backstage restaurants (serving cuisine in the North’s style) and Izakaya by Koki (serving Japanese “going for a drink” style - Izakaya) on the list of Michelin Selected (a restaurant selected by Michelin and recommended to try). Capella Hanoi up to now is also the only hotel in Vietnam that owns three restaurants honored by Michelin, and is one of the few hotels in the world that can claim this.
Honor continued to come to Capella Hanoi, when most recently, on July 11, the world’s leading luxury travel magazine Travel + Leisure announced the top 15 hotels in Asian cities as voted by readers, and Capella Hanoi was honored to take the third position. Tourists were attracted not only by the deep immersion into the hotel’s culture but also by the special culinary experiences here.
This is not the first time Capella Hanoi has been honored. Since its official launch, Sun Group’s exceptionally luxurious boutique hotel has been continuously honored by international media and award organizations. In early June, Travel + Leisure also announced it voted Capella Hanoi as the best city hotel in Vietnam. The World Travel Awards Asia 2022 honored Capella Hanoi as “Asia’s leading luxury boutique hotel” and the hotel continued to be praised by the New York Times (USA) as one of the 10 most prominent new hotels in Asia. Right after its launch in April 2022, after only two months, Travel + Leisure named Capella Hanoi as one of the “100 best new hotels in the world”.
Being praised at the same time by two leading publications in the world, CNN and Travel + Leisure, once again affirms the position and class of Capella Hanoi Hotel. This also shows the stature of Sun Group in creating a project in Vietnam that is constantly praised by the world.
