On Sunday, November 20, 2022, Vietnam will welcome its first 5150 Triathlon Series event on the beautiful island of Phu Quoc with the inaugural BIM Group 5150 Phu Quoc. BIM Group, one of Vietnam’s largest multi-industry business groups, has signed on as a five-year title sponsor as they promote Asia’s next major tourism destination and support the growth of the active lifestyle movement in Vietnam.

The 5150 Triathlon series was introduced by the IRONMAN Group in 2011 and is the largest Olympic distance triathlon series in the world. The name 5150 is inspired by the combined distance of 51.50km participants must complete (1.5km swimming, 40km cycling and 10km running) during the event. This format is also known as the Olympic distance triathlon since its debut in the Sydney 2000 Olympic games.

Event organizer Sunrise Events Vietnam (SEV) is working closely with BIM Group and Kien Giang province to develop the BIM Group 5150 Phu Quoc into the largest 5150 Triathlon Series event in the region to capture the potential for sports tourism on Vietnam’s largest island and Asia’s next major tourism destination.

The theme "Best In Me" for the inaugural event is intended to promote the value of active lifestyles through triathlon and multi-sports and using these experiences to find “the best version of ourselves” in everyday life.

The inaugural BIM Group 5150 Phu Quoc is an incredible opportunity for the growing multi-sport community in Vietnam together with athletes around the region to enjoy the spirit of sports in the mesmerising landscape of Phu Quoc, also known as “Pearl Island”, with its beautiful beaches, calm waters and expanding selection of world class resorts and entertainment options.

The event and main race venue will take place at Phu Quoc Marina Resort and Entertainment Complex, just 10 minutes by car from Phu Quoc International Airport. The complex was invested and developed by BIM Land, a member of BIM Group, bringing together many world-class resort and entertainment brands such as Sailing Club Signature Resort Phu Quoc, InterContinental Phu Quoc Long Beach Resort, Regent Phu Quoc and Sailing Club Signature Resort Phu Quoc.

The race course has been designed to maximise the beauty, convenience and high quality service of this integrated resort destination. Athletes will start their journey next to the InterContinental Long Beach Resort and then swim a single loop triangular 1.5km course in the beautiful waters of Bai Truong.

After the swim, athletes will exit the resort and be treated to a two loop 40km ride on smooth tarmac heading counter-clockwise towards the southern part of the island before looping back and heading north past the Phu Quoc Marina Resort and Entertainment Complex to complete one loop.

On the final run leg, athletes will enjoy a two-loop 10km beachside run course that will run along the beach and resort complex before finishing near the beachside Sailing Club where athletes can recover and celebrate their hard-earned success in an integrated resort environment.

In addition to the main 5150 triathlon series event on Sunday, there will be other events throughout the weekend for athletes, their families, and visitors to enjoy at the Phu Quoc Marina Complex, including a Newborns Vietnam charity run, IRONKIDS Sunrise Sprint Triathlon and a series of Beach Fest festivals to unwind and socialize at before and after the race.
