On a cold night in Hà Nội last week, a six-year-old girl’s striking outfit caught the eye of a jogger, and made her a social media star overnight.

Stylist Phạm Hoàng Anh shared a photo of the girl on Facebook, thanks to her fabulous combination of clothes, with tones of pink and gold mixed with yellow and black polka dot leggings. The ensemble was completed with a red beret and sandals with yet more black polka dots.

He wrote, “The interesting story today is that while running, I accidentally came across a little girl sitting with her mother on a street corner near Hoàn Kiếm Lake. I couldn’t focus on my running. There was something that urged me to stand back and in front of me was a six-year-old girl with a very fashionable set of clothes.”

“Many colours but not confusing,” the fashionista praised the girl.

The girl’s name is Nguyễn Hoàng Anh.

Anh’s mother later revealed to reporters that they live in a 10sq.m rented room in an alley off Hai Bà Trưng Street. The small room is full of old clothes and spare accessories which many people gave Anh.

Though Anh is six years old, her family can’t afford school fees and the pair have to do odd jobs just to make a living.

Anh dreams of becoming a model and picks up garments people throw away or give her and then mixes them by herself.

A social network user named Anh Tú commented, “If there is an opportunity, the girl will become an independent woman. I love you.”

Another user named Hiền Anh said, “There is no tax on a dream. Maybe you and your mother are not lucky today, but it will be different tomorrow. Hopefully your dream will come true.” — VNS
