Twelve-year-old Lê Hữu Tuấn Anh, of Yên Hùng commune in the northern province of Thanh Hóa’s Yên Định District, may be the luckiest person on earth.

Last Monday afternoon, he went to visit his uncle, who resides near National Highway No 1A. At nightfall, he had still not made it home, so Anh decided to sleep at the bus stop. The next morning, he continued the journey.

It was not until noon, when he saw the sign for Vinh Market, a famous market in Nghệ An Province, that he knew he had gotten lost. Then he turned around. But the longer he searched, the farther from home he got.

When he reached Diễn Châu District, night had fallen again. He decided to stop and ask locals about the way back to his hometown. Here, he was taken care of and given food. His case was brought to the attention of the local police station. The police informed his parents who traveled to pick him up the next morning.

In total, the distance Anh traveled was around 250 kilometres, from Thanh Hóa to Nghệ An province in one day. It was only 30 kilometres from his house to his uncle’s.

His misadventure proved that he has the strength and endurance of a promising sportsman. The writer thinks that the national cycling team should recruit him immediately.—VNS
