HÀ NỘI — The Ministry of Construction and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) have signed minutes of discussion on a technical assistance project for social housing policies in Việt Nam during 2021-30.
Speaking at the signing ceremony in Hà Nội on Thursday, Deputy Minister of Construction Phan Thị Mỹ Linh said KOICA had effectively co-operated with the ministry’s Housing and Property Market Management Department - the beneficiary of the project - to reach a consensus on major contents of the document.
The project is vital to the ministry’s State management work in the field of housing, especially in the context that the ministry plans to revise the Housing Law and outline the national strategy of social housing development in 2018-20, Linh said.
She hoped KOIKA would share its experience and support the ministry and department in amending the Housing Law and formulating policies on social housing.
The project will make it easy for the Government to devise appropriate policies, standards and regulations on social housing to benefit low-income people, she said.
Kim Jin-oh, Director of KOICA’s Vietnam office, said the signing marked a beginning of cooperation between KOICA and Việt Nam’s Ministry of Construction in 2018 and expressed hope that the two sides would continue to cooperate in future.
According to Jin-oh, both sides reached a consensus on the main contents of the project, which was quite meaningful to Việt Nam’s social housing development policy.
He said KOICA’s experience would come in handy to promote the effective implementation of the project. — VNS
