HÀ NỘI — The University of Science under the Việt Nam National University, Hà Nội  (VNU University of Science) has become the first institution in Việt Nam to undergo ASEAN University Network - Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) quality verification standards. 
The verification process was launched at a ceremony on Monday. 
The VNU University of Science is also the first university in Southeast Asia to take the AUN-QA examination. 
Addressing the event, Nantana Gajaseni, AUN General Executive Director said the accreditation programme at the university level aims to comprehensively assess the quality of training and research in the educational institution and evaluate the efficiency of its internal quality assurance system. 
The application of the standards aims to improve the quality of universities in the Southeast Asian region. 
The five-day programme has gathered educational experts and managers from universities in the region. 
From 2012-15, the VNU University of Science had six bachelor training programmes verified under the AUN-QA standard: chemistry, biology, mathematics, physics, geology and environmental science. The training programmes in chemistry and geology got 5.0 marks – the second highest score in Southeast Asia. 
After those assessments
