State funeral for President Trần Đại Quang begins

The State funeral for Trần Đại Quang, Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, began at the National Funeral Hall, No 5 Trần Thánh Tông, Hà Nội on Wednesday. People from all walks of life also gathered for homage-paying ceremonies held in localities to mourn and remember President Trần Đại Quang who died at 10:05am on September 21 at the age of 62.

HÀ NỘI — The State funeral for Trần Đại Quang, Politburo member and President of the Socialist Republic of Việt Nam, began at the National Funeral Hall, No 5 Trần Thánh Tông, Hà Nội on Wednesday. People from all walks of life also gathered for homage-paying ceremonies held in localities to mourn and remember President Trần Đại Quang who died at 10:05am on September 21 at the age of 62.

The respect-paying ceremony started at 7am on Wednesday. A memorial service will be held at 7:30am on Thursday. The burial ceremony will take place from 3:30pm on the same day at the Hamlet 13, Quang Thiện Commune, Kim Sơn District, Ninh Bình Province.

At the same time, memorial ceremonies were also held for the late president at the Thống Nhất Hall in HCM City and the Hall of the People’s Committee of Kim Sơn District. — VNS
