HÀ NỘI – Foreign Minister Phạm Bình Minh and Angolan Minister of External Relations Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti agreed to continue seeking measures to strengthen ties in prioritised areas and expand cooperation in promising fields including agriculture, health care, oil and gas, and telecommunications.

During their talks in Hà Nội yesterday, they agreed that the countries should work together to speed up the execution of signed agreements, while negotiating to sign new deals to create a legal framework for bilateral ties.

Lauding the first visit of the Angolan minister, Minh, who is also Deputy Prime Minister, said the visit was evidence of the friendship between the two countries and the two foreign ministries.

The Angolan official praised the achievements that Việt Nam has gained.

He expressed hope that Angola and Việt Nam would continue to beef up ties in areas such as agriculture, education, health care, telecommunication and oil and gas.

Meanwhile, Minh affirmed that Việt Nam attached importance to fostering ties with friends in Africa, while considering Angola a major partner in the region.

"Việt Nam is willing to share its experience with Angola in national construction and development," he stated.

There is plenty of room for Việt Nam and Angola to expand co-operation, especially in agriculture, education, healthcare, and telecommunications, according to President Trần Đại Quang.
The President made the remarks at a reception for Angola’s Foreign Minister Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti in Hà Nội on the same day.
He urged the two countries to accelerate the implementation of projects and deploy measures to deepen bilateral co-operation, including the increase of all-level delegation exchanges.
Bilateral trade was still modest, hitting US$50.2 million in 2016, he said, proposing Angola facilitate the import of Vietnamese goods, prioritising food, consumer products, and construction materials, as well as promoting exchanges among businesses and helping them join trade fairs, exhibitions, and workshops.
