20 int’l art troupes to perform at Huế Festival

Art troupes from at least 12 countries as well as Việt Nam are scheduled to perform in the biennial Huế Festival scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 2 in the former royal city of Huế.

THỪA THIÊN-HUẾ — Art troupes from at least 12 countries as well as Việt Nam are scheduled to perform in the biennial Huế Festival scheduled to take place from April 27 to May 2 in the former royal city of Huế.

Performances will include dance, music, circus, street arts, installation arts, cinematography, and exhibitions. Participating countries include China, Japan, Thailand, Mongolia, Russia, Denmark, Peru, Mexico, Spain, Brazil, Chile and Australia.

With the theme “Cultural Heritage with Integration and Development”, the 10th edition of the festival aims to promote cultural exchanges with other countries and promote the image of Huế City to international visitors.

Huế Festival 2018 will honour the best of Vietnamese culture and arts, especially UNESCO-recognised world heritage sites of Huế City, including the complex of Huế Monuments, Huế Royal Court Music, mộc bản (woodblocks) and châu bản (imperial archives) of the Nguyễn Dynasty and Chinese-script poetry on Huế royal architecture, according to the organising committee. — VNS
