A photograph taken by John S Lander depicting tourists in boats cruising amid colourful floating lanterns on the Hoài River in the world heritage city of Hội An has been named one of the world’s best travel photos by CNN’s edition.cnn.com.

The site recently published 57 travel photos featuring stunning images from around the world, and the floating lanterns of Hội An is in 10th position.

Hội An was recently voted seventh among the world’s 15 best cities by readers of US travel site www.travelandleisure.com.

Hội An, which was the busiest trading port in Southeast Asia from the 15th to 19th centuries, has become more and more appealing to not only local tourists but also expatriates longing for a place without noise and with a tranquil ambience and lovely sights. — VNS
