MEKONG DELTA — Now is an ideal time for travellers to the Mekong Delta to visit Cồn Sơn (Sơn Islet) in Cần Thơ City as the fruit season has begun.

The islet is located on Bùi Hữu Nghĩa Ward in Bình Thuỷ District, just 6km from Cần Thơ City’s Ninh Kiều Wharf.  Tourists often choose to visit only a few places to explore cake-making, watch flying fish, walk in the pomelo garden, and row boats apart from taking a walk around countryside roads to experience the culture and lifestyle of locals.

Visitors to Cồn Sơn can visit the floating fish-raft villages, orchards, and stork gardens, and learn how to make traditional cakes and cook rustic dishes of locals.

Tourists pay fees of VNĐ15,000 (US$0.7) for each sightseeing spot. In addition, visitors can buy fruit at reasonable prices to bring home as a gift. Năm Roi pomelo and green-skinned pomelo are sold at VNĐ25,000 and VNĐ50,000 a kilo, respectively, while snakehead fish is priced at VNĐ100,000 a kilo.
