Vietnamese foreign minister Bùi Thanh Sơn said growing strategic competition between major powers has left huge implications to the region, and ASEAN needs to be watchful of developments and strengthen its unity and central role.

Foreign Minister Bùi Thanh Sơn urged India to continue its prompt and stable vaccine supply for ASEAN member states at the ASEAN – India foreign ministers’ meeting held on Wednesday  as part of the 54th ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM-54) and related meetings.

Collaboration between ASEAN member countries and Japan, Republic of Korea and China was the focus of the ASEAN+3 Foreign Ministers' Meeting, which was held virtually on Tuesday.

Vietnamese Minister of Foreign Affairs Bùi Thanh Sơn on Monday attended the 23rd ASEAN Political-Security Community (APSC) Council Meeting as part of the 54th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (AMM-54).

Foreign ministers of the 10 ASEAN member countries convened virtually at the 54th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (54th AMM) on Monday, discussing a range of topics including the bloc’s post-pandemic recovery, South China Sea issues and the community building process.

In the framework of AMM 53, the ASEAN foreign ministers, guests and partners attended 19 meetings.

ASEAN and Canada have agreed to soon elevate their dialogue relationship to a Strategic Partnership during the ASEAN-Canada Ministerial Meeting held online on September 10 as part of the 53rd ASEAN Ministerial Meeting (AMM-53).
