HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Thị Thật and Trịnh Đức Tâm won the National Road Race Cycling Championship’s individual time trial events on Tuesday in Hòa Bình Province.

Thật who also competes for the Belgian Lotto Saudal Club returned home to cycle for An Giang. The Asian champion won the women’s 30km event with ease. She was followed by teammate Nguyễn Thị Thu Mai and Trần Thị Tuyết Nương from Bình Dương.

It is Thật’s second gold in two days. On Monday, she won the women’s 33km point trial.

On the men’s side, Tâm of Hà Nội took his crown back in the 40km race after losing it last year to Nguyễn Tấn Hoài of Đồng Tháp. Hoài came second while Mai Nguyễn Hưng from HCM City crossed the line in third place.

The tournament will continue today with the men’s 80km and women’s 50km team time trial events.

The national championship sees 97 athletes competing for 18 sets of medals for men and women until October 6. — VNS
