HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has decided not to invite three referees to the ongoing national premiere league.

While VPF has permanently ended its contract with Nguyễn Văn Kiên, it will ban Dương Văn Hiền, Việt Nam Football Federation (VFF)’s deputy head of the referee board, and referee Nguyễn Trọng Thư for a short time.

Kiên made errors in the match between Hoàng Anh Gia Lai and Sanna Khánh Hòa in the recent seventh round of V.League 1. His error helped hosts Khánh Hòa enjoy an unexpected penalty.

Thư, son of VFF’s referee board head Nguyễn Văn Mùi, also made primary fouls in the match between Cần Thơ and Hà Nội in V.League 1’s second round and between Quảng Ninh and Nam Định in the sixth round.

According to VPF, Hiền has not fulfilled his responsibilities as referee supervisor.

Hiền is the No 1 candidate for the position of VFF’s referee board head for the 2018-22 term.

Mùi refused to comment on VPF’s decision. — VNS
