HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam have won 13 golds, 14 silvers and five bronze medals to rank second at the Southeast Asia (SEA) Junior Athletics Championships at Thammasat University in Bangkok, Thailand.
They also broke six SEA junior records in the women’s 800m, men’s 2,000m hurdles, men’s 1,500m and 3,000m, men’s 800m and women’s 1,500m.
Việt Nam also had three best players at the event including Lê Tiến Long, who won three gold medals and broke three SEA records, Đoàn Thu Hằng, who picked up two gold medals and broke two records, and Ngô Thị Khánh Ny with two golds and two records.
Thailand topped the medal tally with 15 golds, seven silvers and 11 bronzes. Malaysia came third with six golds, two silvers and three bronzes.
The tournament attracted athletes born between 2001 and 2003 from 10 SEA countries. They competed in 19 men’s and women’s categories each. Việt Nam sent 32 athletes to compete in running, high jump, long jump, shotput and javelin. — VNS
