HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam beat Sri Lanka 2-1 in the third-round match at the Junior Davis Cup in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on Wednesday.
Tất Thái Nguyên won 6-0, 6-4 over Kavisha Ratnayaka in the first singles match.
Từ Lê Khánh Duy lost 5-7, 6-1, 2-6 to Chaturya Nilawaeera in the second singles.
Nguyên and Trần Quang Trường defeated Nilawaeera and Ratnayaka 6-4, 3-6, 10-2 in the doubles match.
In the next round, the winner of group D will face Maldives.
Meanwhile, in the Junior Fed Cup event, Việt Nam lost to the hosts.
Nguyễn Minh Thuý Hằng was defeated 0-6, 3-6 by Savini Jayasuriya, and Nguyễn Thị Phương lost 1-6, 0-6 to Anjalika Kurera in the singles match. Hằng and Trần Diễm Ngọc were beaten 0-6, 2-6 by Kurera and Oneli Perera in the doubles.
Hằng and Ngọc stood second in Group A and will face Singapore in the next round. — VNS
