HÀ NỘI — Vietnamese players were ousted from the Princess Sirivannavari Thailand Masters badminton tournament held in Bangkok, Thailand yesterday.
Việt Nam’s No 1 player Nguyễn Tiến Minh lost to Suppanyu Avihingsanon 13-21, 21-9, 19-21, of the hosts in the second round after one hour and nine minutes.
Young talent Phạm Cao Cường was also defeated by Mustofa Ihsan of Indonesia 17-21, 14-21 after only 31 minutes.
Earlier, Cường beat No 5 seed Ygor Coelho of Brazil and Minh bested Jason Anthony Ho-shue of Canada in the first round.
The Thai masters, which continues until January 14, offers a prize of US$150,000 for winning players. — VNS
