Việt Nam win two gold medals at SEA Games

Việt Nam won two gold medals in the wushu event at the ongoing Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia today.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won two gold medals in the wushu event at the ongoing Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Malaysia today.

Dương Thúy Vi scored 9.67 points to win the gold medal in the women’s Jianshu category being held at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, edging Malaysia’s Eyin Phoon, who had to settle for the silver after scoring 9.63 points.

Singapore’s Hui Xin Fing came third with a score of 9.60 to take the bronze.

Hoàng Thị Phương Giang brought home another gold medal in the women’s gunshu with 9.64 points.

Loh Ying Ting of the hosts came second with 0.01 point less than Giang.

This morning, Việt Nam earned one more bronze medal in the mixed doubles of the table tennis event, thanks to duo Đinh Quang Linh and Mai Hoàng Mỹ Trang.

On Saturday, Hoàng Thị Thanh grabbed a silver medal in the women’s marathon after clocking 2:55.43 seconds, roughly seven minutes behind gold medallist Mary Joy Tabal of the Philippines.

With two gold, three silver and two bronze, Việt Nam rank fifth in the medal tally. Hosts Malaysia are leading with 12 gold, nine silver and eight bronze. Singapore are the runners-up with six gold, five silver and six bronze medals. — VNS
