HÀ NỘi — Việt Nam fought back to beat Saudi Arabia 24-26, 25-21, 29-27, 25-17 at the Asian Men’s Senior Volleyball Championship’s classification stage on Thursday in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The two teams are among others vying for positions from ninth to 16th.
It was the Southeast Asian team’s second win at the annual tournament after their victory over Sri Lanka just days ago.
Việt Nam will next meet Qatar while Saudi Arabia will play Sri Lanka on Saturday.
In other matches on Thursday, Chinese Taipei toppled towering Australia in a thrilling four sets 25-23, 25-17, 24-26, 25-18 in the first top-eight playoff match. Meanwhile, defending champions Japan overcame Kazakhstan 18-25, 19-25, 23-25, while South Korea defeated the hosts 25-21, 20-25, 25-14 25-16.
Two-time winners Iran unexpectedly lost 25-27, 19-25, 20-25 to powerhouse China.
Thailand, another Southeast Asian representative, pocketed a 20-25, 25-12, 25-23, 25-21 win against Iraq.
