HÀ NỘI — Nguyễn Văn Phương will compete in the boys’ singles final of the ITF Junior Circuit - HCM City today.
The host athlete, who is seeded No 3, yesterday beat No 5 Lee Won-seok of South Korea 6-1, 6-1 in the semi-finals.
He will face No 8 Yuan Zihao of China in the gold-medal match. Yuan yesterday defeated countryman Zeng Zicheng, No 6, 7-6 (6), 6-1 in the other semis.
The girls’ final will see No 1 Che Yujiao of China and No 2 Shrivalli Rashmikaa Bhamidipaty of India face off.
Phương, paired with Huỳnh Thịnh, was earlier defeated in the final of the doubles event. The No 3 seeded team lost 6-7 (5), 2-6 to No 2 Yuan and Zeng.
The girls’ doubles title went to Li Zongyu and Wang Jingyi who beat Che and Gui Chunxi 6-4, 7-6 (5). — VNS
