HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam won two gold medals at the 94th Malaysia Open Athletics Championship, which wrapped up at the National Stadium, Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur, on July 19.
Trần Đình Sơn, a young athlete from Hà Tĩnh, brought home a gold medal in the men’s 400m category with a time of 47.11secs.
Việt Nam’s another gold medal belonged to Quách Công Lịch of Thanh Hóa in the men’s 400m hurdle with a time of 51.03secs.
Asian Grand Prix winner Lịch’s best result in this category is 50.28secs.
Việt Nam sent five athletes to compete in the tournament, which was one of the last events for athletes to warm up ahead of the largest regional sporting competition -- Southeast Asian Games -- also to be held in Malaysia next month. — VNS
