HÀ NỘI — Hoàng Quý Phước won two gold medals at the eighth Lisbon International Meeting which closed in Oeiras City, Portugal, on Sunday.
The Vietnamese swimmer, who completes under his Hungarian club of BVSC-Juglo, triumphed in the men’s 100m freestyle with a time of 49.91sec, which is a new record at the tournament.
Gutierrez Juan Francisco Segura of Tavira Natacao club (50.30) and Nascimento Miguel Duarte of Benfica club (50.34) were second and third, respectively.
He then went on to win the 200m freestyle, clocking 1min 48.93sec, setting a new record at the meeting and also his personal best.
Santos Alexis Manacas of SCP (1:51.72) and Sanchez Gutierrez-Cabello (1:51.78) received a silver and a bronze.
Phước also took part in the 50m individual and a team event of 4x100m freestyle relay but he finished fifth in both events. — VNS
