HÀ NỘI — Hà Nội 1 defeated their direct rival Phong Phú Hà Nam 1-0 to strengthen their top position at the National Women’s Football Championship yesterday in HCM City.

Striker Nguyễn Thị Minh Nguyệt, who just retired from the national team, scored the only goal at the 17th minute with a long-distance shot.

Both sides opened consecutive attacks, but failed to grab a goal during the rest of the match.

With the win, Hà Nội 1 have 35 points and extended its gap to five points over Phong Phú Hà Nam in the ranking after 13 matches.

They will play defending champions HCM City 1 next Tuesday. Phong Phú Hà Nam will next meet Hà Nội 2. — VNS
