Minh wins to rank 20th in junior chess event

International Master Trần Tuấn Minh defeated Pirverdiyev Agil of Azerbaijan in the 10th round of the World Junior (U-20) Chess Championships in India.

HÀ NỘI — International Master Trần Tuấn Minh defeated Pirverdiyev Agil of Azerbaijan in the 10th round of the World Junior (U-20) Chess Championships in India.

Minh now has six points to rank 20th out of 80 players. In the final round, he will meet Srijit Paul of India who ranks 19thwith the same point total as Minh.

Việt Nam’s other representative, Trần Minh Thắng, rose one spot to 63rdplace with four points after drawing with Tahay Alexis of France.

Thắng will face Nyamdorj Davaaochir of Canada in the next round.

Xiong Jeffery of the US still leads the event with 8.5 points. Artemiev Vladislav of Russia and Maghsoodloo Parham of Iran are second and third, respectively. — VNS
