Trang enters Việt Nam Open quarter-finals

HÀ NỘI — Top Vietnamese female badminton player Vũ Thị Trang entered the women’s singles and doubles quarter-finals at the Yonex Sunrise Việt Nam Open in HCM City on July 21.

Trang and Nguyễn Thị Sen defeated China’s Dong Yourong and Xia Yut in the second round of the women’s doubles 21-16, 21-12 after 27 minutes at Nguyễn Du Gymnasium.

The Vietnamese pair will meet Japan’s A Sukaramoto and Y Takahata in the quarter-final.

Earlier, Trang beat Indonesia’s Susanto Yosephin 21-17, 22-20 to enter the women’s singles quarter-final.

The world number 44 player will face Cheah Su Ya of Malaysia, ranked 332^nd, in the next round.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese players Nguyễn Thùy Linh and Nguyễn Thị Phương Hà were defeated in the event’s second round. — VNS
