Việt Nam wins two golds at Asian junior athletics

Việt Nam won two gold medals at the Asian Junior Athletics Tournaments which wrapped up in HCM City on Monday.

HÀ NỘI —  Việt Nam won two gold medals at the Asian Junior Athletics Tournaments which wrapped up in HCM City on Monday.

Lê Tú Chinh took the gold medal in the women’s 200m with a time of 23.94sec. While Nguyễn Thị Trúc Mai brought home another gold in the women’s long jump with her result of 6.34m.

Vietnamese athletes also won two silvers and a bronze in the four-day event.

Khuất Phương Anh won a silver medal in the women’s 400m hurdles with a time of 59.78sec, while Lê Trung Đức finished second in the men’s 3,000m hurdles. Nguyễn Linh Na finished third in the women’s pentathlon.

The event saw the participation of up to 700 young athletes and coaches from 40 countries and territories worldwide, including Qatar, Japan, China, Iraq and Thailand, competing in 22 categories.The biennial event was also an opportunity for young Vietnamese track and field athletes to prepare for the Junior Olympics. — VNS
