Lý Hoàng Nam suffered a shocking loss in the first round of the Indian F2 Futures tennis tournament yesterday.

Vietnamese Nam, who jumped to the world’s No 895 spot, was defeated 2-6, 4-6 by Bernardo Saraiva of Portugal, who ranked No 1,629.

It was the second time Nam lost to a lower-ranked rival in the first-round match of the Men’s Futures.

Next week, he will take part in the F3 Futures event, also in Ludhiana, India. -- VNS
