3x3.EXE Premier Vietnam to blow up local basketball

The 3x3.EXE Premier Vietnam basketball tournament will be held in HCM City and promises to be a new exciting format, with thrilling matches and the winners in with a chance of competing at the world competition.

HCM CITY The debut 3x3.EXE Premier Vietnam basketball tournament will be held in HCM City promising a new exciting format, thrilling games and an opportunity for the winners to compete in global games.

The 3x3.EXE PREMIER became the first national professional league in the world when it was launched in Japan with seven teams in 2014.  Now a decade later, it is the world's largest 3x3 basketball competition with tournaments across the world. 

In the 2022 season, more than 100 teams with 600 players competed in 1,143 matches in Japan, Thailand, New Zealand and Australia.

It will be the first time the 3x3.EXE Premier comes to Việt Nam, after a partnership signed between Vietnam Pro Basketball League (VBA) and Xross Sports Marketing (XSM), a subsidiary of Xebio Group, on March 26 in HCM City. 

The Vietnamese tournament, one of five 3x3.EXE Premier events in 2024, will be held from May 18 to June 9 in the city. The others are scheduled for Japan (May and September), New Zealand (June and August), Thailand (August) and Australia (August).

Three host teams, Next Level Basketball.EXE, BGrow Dreamers.EXE and Saigon Heat.EXE will play against three guests of Kuala Lumpur.EXE (Malaysia), Shanghai Surtai.EXE (China) and Kirabase.EXE (Chinese Taipei) at the Hồ Xuân Hương Gymnasium.

They are divided into two group stages, with the best of each advancing to the semi-finals. Saigon Heat.EXE and Shanghai Surtai.EXE will compete in the opening match today.

The winners from Việt Nam will then have a chance to compete at basketball's highest level, the FIBA 3x3 World Tour, in one of two ways. 

They will play other conferences' representatives in the Playoffs round of 3x3.EXE Premier in Japan in September. The two best ones will enter the FIBA ​​World Tour's qualification.

Or they will take part in the 3x3.EXE Super Premier in March 2025 in Japan which will see the two strongest teams progress to the FIBA World Tour finals. VNS
