Việt Nam won the women's individual and team mass start road cycling on May 21.

The events attracted the participation of 29 athletes from seven countries: Laos, Thailand, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia and Việt Nam.

The Vietnamese team had five athletes participating in the competition: Nguyễn Thị Thật, Nguyễn Thị Thi, Nguyễn Thị Thu Mai, Bùi Thị Quỳnh and Nguyễn Thị Kim Cương. All took part in the women's event with a distance of 88.8km, including six laps.

Although the weather was not favourable - it rained heavily from the night before to morning, and the track was slippery - the cyclists of the Vietnamese team competed hard for a gold medal.

After three hours of competition, the gold medal in the women's individual mass start road cycling went to Nguyễn Thị Thật, the silver to Mohammad Zubir Nur Aisyah of Malaysia, and the bronze to Priatna Delia Ayustina of Indonesia.

In the women's team event, the Vietnamese team excellently won the gold medal, with the silver medal going to team Malaysia and team Thailand bagging bronze.

After nine days of competing in the SEA Games 31 cycling competition, the Vietnamese team won four gold and two silver medals.
