QUẢNG NINH — With 12 points after six matches, Vietnamese Chinese chess players won another gold for Việt Nam in the men’s blitz chess team.

The silver medal went to the Singapore team with seven points while Malaysia won the bronze medal with three points.

In this category, four countries competed - Việt Nam, Singapore, Thailand and Malaysia. This was a strong event for the Vietnamese team made up of players like Hà Văn Tiến and Nguyễn Minh Nhật Quang.

Phạm Hồng Khanh, general secretary of the Việt Nam Chess Federation and member of the organising board of the SEA Games 31, said: “Team leaders met and encouraged Vietnamese players to be confident and play well to achieve the goals. Vietnamese players are very excited and look forward to winning more gold medals”.

Việt Nam competed successfully in two days of competition, winning two gold medals in the men’s rapid team and the men’s blitz team, and completed their goal at this year’s Games.

According to Kin Wai Seck, head coach of the Philippines team, in Southeast Asia Việt Nam are the strongest team. In Asia, only China is ahead. Therefore, this result is completely deserved for Việt Nam.

On May 16, athletes will continue to play in the men's and women's standard chess events.
