Việt Nam passes one month with no new community COVID-19 cases

Việt Nam has now gone a full month without a single community infection of COVID-19.

HÀ NỘI — Việt Nam has now gone a full month without a single community infection of COVID-19.

On Friday, one new imported case was recorded, bringing the total number of infections to 1,096.

The 24-year-old woman from the northern province of Vĩnh Phúc arrived in the country on Wednesday on board a flight from Tokyo, Japan. She was immediately quarantined on arrival.

Meanwhile, the National Steering Committee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control also announced two more COVID-19 patients have been given the all-clear after testing negative for SARS-CoV-2.

The country has recorded 1,095 SARS-CoV-2 infections so far. Of the total, 691 were locally-transmitted cases, including 551 linked with Đà Nẵng City since the latest coronavirus wave hit the locality on July 25.

Among the confirmed cases, 1,018 were given the all clear. The death toll remained at 35.

As many as 15,013 people who had close contact with COVID-19 patients or arrived from pandemic-hit areas are being quarantined. VNS
