ĐIỆN BIÊN — The Border Guard Command in the northern mountainous province of Điện Biên on Tuesday handed over "houses of gratitude" to 65 families living in extremely difficult circumstances in Chung Chải commune, Mường Nhé District.
This is a socialisation programme launched by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee and the Ministry of Public Security, funding VNĐ50 million (US$2,100) for each new house and VNĐ15 million ($640) for each repaired house.
From February 17 to April 17, Điện Biên’s Border Guard Command helped the targeted households build 60 new homes and repair five others.
The hand-over of the houses for underprivileged residents in Chung Chải commune is expected to help them soon stabilise their lives and contribute to boosting socio-economic development and ensuring defence-security in the locality. — VNS
