VNU-HCM fund receives $15.6m sponsorship commitment from corporates

Companies pledged more than VNĐ362 billion (US$15.6 million), including VNĐ165 billion in writing, to the Việt Nam National Unviersity-Hồ Chí Minh City’s Development Fund at a ceremony held to mark its 10th anniversary on July 26.

 

HCM CITY— Companies pledged more than VNĐ362 billion (US$15.6 million), including VNĐ165 billion in writing, to the Việt Nam National University-Hồ Chí Minh City’s Development Fund at a ceremony held to mark its 10th anniversary on July 26.

Assoc Prof Dr Huỳnh Thành Đạt, president of the VNU-HCM, said the fund had helped equip the university with modern labs and other facilities including sufficiently equipped dormitories for its nearly 50,000 students.

It also provided scholarships to outstanding and disadvantaged students, assisted VNU-HCM’s training and technological incubation and scientific research, he added.

VNU-HCM has more 70 labs and 30 technological and scientific organizations, and trained more than 65,000 undergraduates and nearly 10,000 postgraduates. VNS
