BÌNH PHƯỚC —  Local police have discovered a large illegal stone mining site in Bù Gia Mập District in southern Bình Phước Province.

A representative of the provincial police said on Thursday that the site, located in Đắk Ơ Commune, covers about 5ha and is owned by Nguyễn Phú Bắc and Nguyễn Phú Nam from Phú Văn Commune.

The police seized five trucks, 10 diggers, one power generator, other machines and stones at the site. The depth of stone exploitation was up to 10m.

Nam admitted to police that the activity began in November last year. At first, they dug up small stones and construction stones, but in the last two months, they dug up big stones.

The police asked the two men to stop their mining activities and keep the site untouched for further investigation. — VNS
