VNĐ15 trillion allocated for important transport projects

 The National Assembly Standing Committee has approved the allocation of VNĐ15 trillion (US$652 million) for the implementation of 14 urgent transport projects.

HÀ NỘI — The National Assembly Standing Committee has approved the allocation of VNĐ15 trillion (US$652 million) for the implementation of 14 urgent transport projects.

The investment has been sourced from reserves of the State’s medium-term investment capital plan for the 2016-20 period.

The Government has been in charge of directing relevant sectors to complete investment procedures and capital plans to implement these projects following regulations stated in the Public Investment Law and related laws.

The invested projects consist of four railway projects and 10 road projects.

The four railway projects are repairing and upgrading weak bridges on the Hà Nội-HCM City railway line; reinforcing weak tunnels and opening stations on the Vinh - Nha Trang railway section; repairing and upgrading essential structures on the Hà Nội – Vinh railway section and repairing and upgrading essential structures on the Nha Trang - Sài Gòn section.

The upgrading of these four railway projects is expected to reduce traffic dangers on weak bridges and tunnels and increase carriage capacity of goods and people some 1.5 times.

The 10 urgent road projects include the highway through the Tây Côn Lĩnh mountain pass and the road connecting the Hà Nội-Hải Phòng Expressway with the Cầu Giẽ-Ninh Bình Expressway. — VNS
