QUẢNG NINH — Nine people were injured on Tuesday when a tuk-tuk overturned on the way to Quan Lạn Island in the northern province of Quảng Ninh.
Lưu Minh Đức, chairman of Quan Lạn Commune People’s Committee, said that initial investigation had found that the driver had lost control travelling at high speed.
Phạm Quang Dũng, director of Vân Đồn District’s Medical Centre, said that two of the injured had been transferred to the provincial general hospital as requested by their families, while the remaining patients were undergoing treatment at the centre for minor injuries.
Tuk-tuks are three-wheeled vehicles used to transport goods and travellers on Quan Lạn Island. Because of their small sizes, they can fit down small alleys.
However, Đức said the vehicles would be banned at the end of this year because they were not legally registered. — VNS
