HCM CITY — Government agencies are wrapping up final plans to prepare for the adjusted expansion plan of Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport, according to the Ministry of Transport (MoT).

The Civil Aviation Authority of Việt Nam will send the final adjusted plan to the MoT, which will then submit it to related ministries and the HCM City People’s Committee for approval in June.

Last month, the Prime Minister agreed to the proposal made by ADP-I consultants to expand the Tân Sơn Nhất International Airport.

Under the adjusted plan, a new passenger terminal in the southern area of the airport would accommodate 20 million passengers per year, and by 2025, the airport would have capacity for up to 50 million passengers per year.

Cargo terminals, aircraft parking and technical maintenance areas will be built in the northern area of the airport.

Also at this event, the MoT unveiled that many key projects are under active implementation.

The Airport Corporation of Vietnam has completed negotiations with a contractor to conduct a feasibility study on the Long Thành International Airport project.

Transport Engineering Design Inc and other agencies have completed a feasibility study report on the North-South Expressway project from HCM City to the Eastern Provinces.

Transport Engineering Design Inc is also working on three other North-South Expressway projects: Mai Sơn-National Highway 45, Nghi Sơn- National Highway 45 and Phan Thiết- Dầu Giây.

Minister of Transport Nguyễn Văn Thể has told a number of agencies to speed up the projects to ensure that they can be completed on schedule. --- VNS
