THANH HÓA — A blaze destroyed a workshop, estimated to be hundreds of square metres, containing ceramic tiles and sanitary equipment in northern Thanh Hóa Province’s Tây Bắc Ga Industrial Park at 11pm on Tuesday night.

Some 50 firefighters and 5 fire engines were dispatched to the scene and the blaze was brought under control at 1am on Wednesday morning.

Also on Tuesday night, another blaze occurred at about 6pm, damaging several hectares of forest on northeastern Quảng Ninh Province’s Vạn Yên Hill.

Due to strong winds, the fire quickly spread, and the provincial Firefighting Police Office was able to put out the blaze only by 10pm.

Further, a fire reportedly burned down an electric equipment shop at 9pm on Xô Viết Nghệ Tĩnh Street in Mekong Delta’s Sóc Trăng Province.

The owner of the shop said the blaze is believed to have started when a chandelier on the second floor of the shop suddenly caught fire. It took local firefighters about one hour to control the fire.

Fortunately, no casualties were reported in all three blazes.

The reasons for the three fires remain unknown. Local authorities in the three provinces are working hard to identify the cause and calculate the cost of the damage. — VNS
