WARSAW — Vice President Đặng Thị Ngọc Thịnh asserted the importance of women in building stable and sustainable societies during her speech at the closing ceremony of the 26th Global Summit of Women in Warsaw, Poland.
She called on countries to exert greater efforts to allow women and girls to live in peace and prosperity, while engaging in dialogue and cooperation to manage differences and disputes by peaceful measures and on the basis of international law.
Women worldwide should unite for peace, friendly cooperation and development, the Vice President said on Saturday.
Other delegates also stressed the role played by women in economic development, saying booming information and technology will make it easier for women to pursue success, provided they believe in themselves and work hard.
During the three-day event, the Vietnamese delegation contributed to the agenda, where they shared the country’s experience relating to public-private partnership projects, scientific-technological applications in business startups and development, as well as policies and programmes aiming to remove barriers to women in Vietnamese localities.
On the sidelines of the women’s summit, the Vietnamese delegation also met with the Polish Economic Minister to discuss economic and trade ties between the two countries. They also organised a seminar on cooperation between Vietnamese businesses at home and in Poland.
On Saturday, June 11, 2016, the Vice President met with the advisor to the President of Kazakhstan, Abdykalikova Gulshara. She affirmed that Vietnam always attaches importance to consolidating and enhancing the time-honoured friendship with Kazakhstan.
She commended Kazakhstan’s ratification of the free trade agreement between Vietnam and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) and said she believed the deal would open up new cooperation opportunities for the two countries, as well as for Việt Nam and other EAEU nations.
The two sides agreed to increase the exchange of all-level delegations and to increase collaboration between the two countries’ businesses, while stepping up their coordination at bilateral forums.
Vice President Thịnh also met with the Vietnamese Women’s Association in Poland, where she praised its role in building the Vietnamese community in the host country and in organising activities with their homeland.— VNS
