BÌNH PHƯỚC — Police in Tân Thiện Ward in the southern province of Bình Phước are working with Lê Đức Thắng, 42, after a video clip released on social media showing him abusing a young boy, the ward’s People’s Committee has said.

On Tuesday (March 12), a video lasting over two minutes surfaced on Facebook, depicting Thắng brutally assaulting a young boy who was lying on the ground crying and pleading desperately.

The video prompted immediate public outrage due to the man's savage and inhumane actions. Numerous individuals commented on the video, urging local authorities to investigate the incident.

Local police have identified the incident as occurring around 6 pm on March 8 in Tân Thiện Ward, Đồng Xoài City. The child subjected to abuse in the video is Lê Tấn A, a 9-year-old student, and the perpetrator of the brutal assault against A is identified as Lê Đức Thắng, A’s stepfather.

Following the incident, the child was promptly transported to Bình Phước General Hospital for emergency treatment. According to medical reports, the young boy sustained multiple soft tissue injuries. By March 11, A was discharged from the hospital.

Local authorities have visited A, and the case is currently under further investigation. — VNS
