Bắc Giang prioritises holistic development and cultural preservation

Outstanding individuals awarded the title "Excellent Bắc Giang Citizen" for their contributions to the general development of the province in 2023.

BẮC GIANG — Bắc Giang Province is focusing on fostering the well-rounded growth of its populace, with a keen eye on highlighting the best of Vietnamese heritage and the distinct essence of it's people. 

Mai Sơn, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, unveiled the province's ambitious plans to fine-tune regulations governing the cultural spirit and behavioral norms of Bắc Giang's people, especially in the midst of rapid industrialisation, modernisation and global integration. 

The emphasis will be on elevating benchmarks concerning personal integrity, ethical conduct, lifestyle choices and  legal awareness.

Priority is given to upholding the basic rights and welfare of all residents, with a strong emphasis on poverty alleviation, educational quality, gender equality and social empowerment.

Efforts will be intensified in cultural, educational and healthcare domains to foster a cohesive community spirit, promoting law-abiding behaviour and moral principles such as gratitude and compassion.

Further initiatives target physical fitness and sports excellence, building on the legacy of Uncle Hồ's emphasis on active living and prioritising international cooperation in training coaches and high-achieving athletes.

Additionally, steps are taken to combat superstition and safeguard Bắc Giang's cultural heritage, while also recognising and celebrating outstanding individuals who contribute positively to society.

Over the years, Bắc Giang has remained steadfast in its commitment to holistic development, evident in the integration of modern ethical standards into legal frameworks and community practices.

Schools have embraced initiatives like the "Friendly Schools, Active Students" campaign, while healthcare services have seen significant improvements, reflected in increased hospital bed capacity and enhanced medical staff.

In 2023, the number of hospital beds reached 31.8 per 10,000 people; the number of doctors reached 12.2 per 10,000 people; the percentage of people with health insurance cards reached 99.2 per cent; the average life expectancy of the people was 73.7 years.

On average, the province creates jobs for nearly 30,000 workers annually, contributing to the shift in labour structure, economic structure, income improvement, poverty reduction, social security, and contributing to the province's sustainable development goals.

Youth engagement is encouraged through initiatives like the "Good Deeds" movement, instilling values of community service and personal growth inspired by the teachings of the late President Hồ Chí Minh. — VNS
