HẢI DƯƠNG — Prime Minister Phạm Minh Chính urged the northern province of Hải Dương to focus its strategy on green growth, digital transformation and innovation for breakthrough and sustainable development.

Chính had a meeting with key leaders of Hải Dương Province on socio-economic development tasks on Thursday.

He said Hải Dương has a number of advantages in terms of geographical location, transport, land, history and culture, which will give the province strength and opportunities for prosperity.

Hải Dương is located in the centre of the northern delta, belongs to the northern key economic zone and is close to the northern growth poles including Hà Nội, Hải Phòng, and Quảng Ninh, he said.

He asked the province to focus development on high-tech and supportive industries, high-tech and organic agriculture, high quality service as well as green, smart and modern cities.

He emphasised that the province needs to fully tap the potential of outstanding strengths in humans, culture, and history and take advantage of surrounding economic hubs for development.

In order to realise the target of becoming one of the top ten localities with the largest economic scale and an industrial centre of the northern Red River Delta by 2030, Chính urged local authorities to regard planning as a key task with long-term vision.

The province should invest in transport infrastructure especially those at airports and seaports, with the northeast of Bắc Ninh, Bắc Giang, and Quảng Ninh provinces to open up new development space.

Hải Dương needs to continue to improve the business investment climate and competitiveness, and promote administrative reform, he said.

According to Trần Đức Thắng, secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Hải Dương’s Gross Regional Domestic Product increased by 9.14 per cent in 2022.

Hải Dương ranks 11 out of 63 localities nationwide and five out of 11 Red River Delta localities in terms of economic scale.

Local authorities proposed the Government and relevant agencies offer supportive policies in building key infrastructure projects such as Hà Nội-Hải Phòng railway line and provide financial support to implement housing policies for people with meritorious services.  VNS
