HCM CITY - The People's Council of Bà Rịa-Vũng Tàu Province has approved its medium-term public investment plan for the 2021-2025 period, adding nearly VNĐ10 trillion (US$426,348) to invest in 10 important transport projects with an emphasis on inter-regional and provincial connectivity.

This is an important investment for the socio-economic development of the province as well as the southeast region.

Compensation and ground clearance for Biên Hoà - Vũng Tàu expressway, five coastal routes on provincial road 994, a road connecting to Biên Hoà - Vũng Tàu expressway (from Phú Mỹ Town to Bà Rịa City), Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu main road (from Bà Rịa City to the roundabout of national highways 51B, 51C and Vũng Tàu City) and Hội Bài - Phước Tân road (connecting National Highway 51 with Biên Hoà - Vũng Tàu expressway), among others, will be carried out.

Notably, provincial road 994 will extend from Phú Mỹ Town to Bà Rịa City, Vũng Tàu City, then round to Long Điền and Đất Đỏ districts and end at Xuyên Mộc District.

This road will connect Cái Mép port with luxury tourism areas and pass through six out of seven districts, towns and cities on the mainland of Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Province.

Mai Ngọc Thuận, permanent vice chairman of Bà Rịa - Vũng Tàu Provincial People's Council, said that in order to accumulate the capital for those projects, the council decided to cancel 21 projects and postpone 27 projects which had been previously approved.

"The adjustment of investment and capital concentration for these 10 projects aims to effectively connect roads, promote growth, and create new development spaces. When completed, they will create a solid and long-term development foundation for the locality," Thuận added. - VNS
