HÀ NỘI — Millions of people nationwide headed to the polls by 5.30pm on Sunday with authorities saying more than 95.65 per cent of the electorate voted to elect deputies to the National Assembly (NA) and all-level People’s Councils for the 2021-2026 tenure.

According to Bùi Văn Cường, NA Secretary General and Chief of the National Election Council’s Office, the top locality recorded a voter turnout rate of 99.92 per cent while the locality with lowest rate reported 84 per cent.

The elections could be deemed successful as there had been no reports of election-related problems from localities, he told reporters on Sunday evening.

Voters nationwide, including those in mountainous, remote, rural and island areas, were excited to exercise their rights and obligations to elect those they trust. In addition, COVID-19 prevention tasks were strictly carried out to ensure health and safety, according to Cường. — VNS
